Yesterday, the high school choir program participated in the UIL Solo and Ensemble competition, where 11 of our talented students showcased their vocal abilities. Out of 11 of those students we had 4 who were just shy of a perfect score! Those 4 are:

The work and efforts of numerous African American residents of Palestine and Anderson County in so many areas must be told and remembered. It must also be remembered the accomplishments were achieved in the face of incredible adversity. Take a moment to share, remember and retell OUR STORY.

Congratulations to the state bound CX winners!! Sheilah Damas and Connor Myers 1st place and Connor received the top speaker award. Daniel Maxwell and Robert Harder 2nd place and Kelsee Hogard and David Sipac 3rd. They will compete at UT Austin in March for the state competition!
Clarence Franklin Carr, In the early 1900s Carr settled in Palestine, Texas, with his wife Mary A. Carr (Mamie). In 1907 Prof. Nathaniel A. Banks, principal of the Fourth Ward Colored School in Palestine, resigned, and Carr took over the position. He served twelve years at that school, which was later renamed Lincoln High School. Carr served as the 30th president of the Colored Teachers’ State Association of Texas from 1917 to 1918.
