Compulsory attendance and credit attendance are NOT the same.

Credit Attendance states students must attend school (90 % rule) in order to receive credit.  Students are allowed 18 total absences (excused or unexcused) for the year before students will be denied credit for a class due to attendance.  All credit attendance owed MUST be made up in the semester in which it is accumulated or credit will be lost due to attendance.

Compulsory Attendance follows Texas State Compulsory Attendance Laws that state students with 10 unexcused absences (days or parts of days) may have truancy charges filed against student and/or parent for non-attendance.

This office provides services to students and parents regarding Minimum Attendance for Class Credit or Final Grade (90% rule). Attendance is monitored throughout the school year and students and parents are notified when attendance does not comply with state and district policy.
