Washington Early Childhood Center (WECC) is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month by recognizing the history, traditions, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities. Throughout September, staff members are participating in activities designed to foster appreciation, connection, and a welcoming school community.
This year’s celebration reflects WECC’s theme of “Different Cultures, Brighter Futures.” The month provides an opportunity for staff and students to learn about the traditions and experiences that have helped shape our community and our nation. Through age-appropriate conversations and activities, WECC is encouraging curiosity, respect, and appreciation for the many cultures represented within our school community.
Staff members are joining the celebration by wearing Hispanic Heritage shirts on designated days. The first Staff Shirt Day was Wednesday, September 16, with additional Hispanic Heritage shirt days scheduled for Friday, September 18, and Friday, September 25. These days offer staff a simple and positive way to show their support for the schoolwide celebration.
A special recognition was also held on Monday, September 21, followed by a staff luncheon on Wednesday, September 23. The luncheon provides an opportunity for staff to come together in fellowship while recognizing Hispanic Heritage Month and the cultural traditions and contributions being celebrated.
At WECC, Hispanic Heritage Month is an opportunity to strengthen connections among students, staff, families, and the community. By providing opportunities to learn about and appreciate different cultures and traditions, the campus continues its commitment to creating a respectful and welcoming environment where every child and family can experience a sense of belonging.
As WECC celebrates throughout the month, the message is simple: many cultures make one strong community, and together we create a brighter future for all.
