Palestine, TX — Palestine High School honored its senior girls yesterday afternoon with the annual “Grace & Gratitude” Senior Sip, a special event designed to celebrate accomplishments while encouraging reflection, confidence, and poise as students prepare for life beyond graduation.
The event featured guest speaker and Palestine High School Class of 1986 graduate Mrs. Portia Hill Hatten, who returned to her alma mater to share words of wisdom and encouragement. Hatten spoke to the seniors about the importance of gratitude, resilience, and carrying oneself with grace in every season of life. Drawing from her own experiences, she challenged students to embrace their journeys and remain grounded in their values as they step into new opportunities.
Held in an atmosphere of elegance and celebration, the Senior Sip provided a meaningful space for connection and mentorship. Community guest hosts were seated at each table, offering words of wisdom, encouragement, and the opportunity for students to build new connections and friendships with mentors across the community.
Adding a unique and personal touch, community-donated vintage tea cups made the event even more special. Each guest received a tea cup as an event favor, serving as a keepsake to remember the day and the connections formed.
According to the event flyer, the gathering focused on empowering young women to recognize their worth, reflect on their growth, and approach the future with confidence and purpose.
The “Grace & Gratitude” Senior Sip is part of Palestine ISD’s commitment to creating experiences that extend beyond academics—helping students develop character, leadership, and life skills. The event is a project supported by the Palestine ISD Education Foundation and the Palestine High School Student Council, reflecting a strong partnership dedicated to investing in students’ futures.
As the Class of 2026 approaches graduation, the message shared throughout the afternoon resonated clearly: carry gratitude, lead with grace, and never forget where you come from.
