📢 Legal Update for the 2025–26 School Year Starting this school year, House Bill 1481 prohibits students from using cell phones and personal communication devices during the school day while on school property. If brought to campus, personal communication devices must be turned off or silenced and remain out of sight at all times between arrival and dismissal. After 32 years of faithful service to Palestine ISD, Nurse Cheryl Walding is retiring from Southside Elementary School. For more than three decades, Cheryl has been the comforting presence in the nurse’s office, the calm in every storm, and the steady hand that students, staff, and parents can always count on. She has contributed to so much more than just the role of school nurse! Whether it is a scraped knee, a fever, or just a hug on a hard day, Nurse Walding gives every child the care and attention they need! Cheryl, your legacy of kindness and care will never be forgotten.
